Welcome to the homepage of the Really 'Ard Blood Bowl League (RABBL). This is a PBEM Blood Bowl League using Ronald Loker's PBEM tool. A big thank you to Ronald and Tom Anders for developing and supporting this program.

My thanks to Will (p1n3b0x) for developing the html for the web-site for the new season. I hope you find the new format an improvement on that used for Season 1.

RABBL was set up on 21st March 2002 with 16 coaches determined to emerge victorious. The original format (ie season 1) meant each coach was randomly allocated a different team each round. Thus the League was a test of all round coaching skill.... however, it did lead to some "interesting" team development!
Congratulations to Rich on winning the Season 1 Championship .

For a variety of reasons, not least the format demanded a lot of additional work by the Commish, the format for Season has changed. It is intended that the new format will continue for several seasons. The change in format has allowed for 24 coaches to compete in Season 2. A conference style league with Inter League play over a course of 8 games will determine which teams enter the 3 different post season competitions. For a fuller description of how the League works, check out the links on the left hand side of the web page.

League Format
Divisions:
There are four divisions all battling for the coveted cups (Senior, Junior, & Wally Anker Cups). To make the league more well rounded and exciting, only One team is allowed per Race in each Division. In addition, each Conference only has 10 eligible races. The divisions are as follows:
EVIL
Chaos (O)
Chaos Dwarf (O)
Dark Elf (O)
Goblin (A)
Necromantic (E)
Orc (O)
Skaven (O)
Skaven Clan Moulder (E)
Undead (O)
Vampire (E)
GOOD
Amazon (O)
Dwarf (O)
Halfling (A)
High Elf (O)
Human (O)
Lizardmen (O)
Lustrian Pact (AE)
Norse (O)
Old World Pact (AE)
Wood Elf (O)
OLD WORLD
Chaos (O)
Chaos Dwarf (O)
Chaos Pact (AE)
Dark Elf (O)
Dwarf (O)
Halfling (A)
High Elf (O)
Human (O)
Khemri (AE)
Orc (O)
NEW WORLD
Amazon (O)
Goblin (A)
Lizardmen (O)
Lustrian Pact (AE)
Necromantic (E)
Norse (O)
Skaven (O)
Skaven Clan Mors (E)
Vampire (E)
Wood Elf (O)

(O) - Official Roster; (A) - Amended Roster; (E) - Experimental Roster;

Rules:
Currently, the league is using the LRB 1.3 with the following changes (the first 3 were all voted on by the players):
 • No Wizards (freeboot or otherwise)
 • No Stars (freeboot or otherwise)
 • EXP system: The post-game MVP's and aging system from the Bloodbowl Living Rulebook 1.3 are not being used for this league. Instead, players will gain experience for the match and aging is handled through this system instead. An experience point is worth 1spp, and the number of experience points a player has gained should be tracked on the team's roster in the column which previously recorded MVPs. After every match which the player participates (a participating player is any who COULD have played at any point in the match) rolls a d6. If the result of the roll is greater than the number of experience points the player currently has, then the player gains 1 experience point. A roll of '1' always fails and a roll of '6' always succeeds. When a player has gained 6 or more experience points, he is subject to aging. Anytime a player with 6 or more experience points rolls a '1' on his experience point roll after the game, he might have lost a step and must roll 2d6 on the following table to see the effect.
Roll Effect
2 ST -1 and Miss Next Game
3 AG -1 and Miss Next Game
4 MA -1 and Miss Next Game
5 AV -1 and Miss Next Game
6 Niggle and Miss Next Game
7 Miss Next Game
8-12 No Effect
 • Other rule changes for PBEM (eg Sidestep) - see the current RABBL Web-site for Rosters - some experimental rosters are allowed and some of these have been modified plus Goblins and Halflings get some extra help.
 • The BBRC clarifications provided they work with the PBEM tool

League Points:
The league is also using the World Chess League Points with the following additions: 1 bonus point if your TDs plus casualties are 3 or more higher than your opponent (casualties can only be scored by blocking and thus earning 2 SPPs or by scoring a team casualty which can be earned by pushing a player into the crowd (who injure him) or by fouling - no SPPs are awarded for the last 2. A team casualty should be recorded by increasing your casualty counter and will count to whether you score a bonus point or not).

Matches
The league will consist of 2 in division games then 1 game out of division followed by 1 game in division etc as follows:
Game 1: in division
Game 2: in division
Game 3: out of division (Round 1 OoD see below)
Game 4: in division
Game 5: out of division (Round 2 OoD see below)
Game 6: in division
Game 7: out of division (Round 3 OoD see below)
Game 8: in division
Finals

Thus a total of 8 games. The games out of division will be against the team in the same position as your team (1st to 6th) as follows:
Round 1 Out of Division
 • Evil v Good
 • Old World v New World

Round 2 of Out of Division
 • Evil v Old World
 • Good v New World

Round 3 of Out of Division
 • Evil v New World
 • Good v Old World

Thus after the first 2 League games in division, the top team from Evil will play the top team from Good and so on. This brings in a Swiss style element to a conference system.

There will be no O/T in regular season League games - a draw is a draw.

Finals
Once the 8 games have been completed, we will go into the play offs. The top 2 teams in each division will enter the Senior Cup. The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in each division the Junior Cup. The Draw will be seeded as follows:
 • League Points
 • Total Net TDs + Net Cas
 • Team Rating
 • Results if played against a team level with you
 • Random Draw

The top rated team in the Senior Cup will play the 8th rated team in the Senior Cup. This will be a knockout competition with O/T. O/T will continue until a T/D is scored (although if one half is completed a second half will then start).

A knockout competition continues until the Senior Cup and Junior Cup winners are decided.

The teams finishing bottom and 2nd bottom of each division will have their own competition:
The Wally Anker this will be a knock out too an be in exactly the same format as the other competitions.

The first round of matches will start on or around 12th January 2003 and the 8th Round is expected to finish no later than 19th October 2003. The full 4 weeks has been pencilled in to complete each Round of games, however, it is expected (hoped?) that most rounds can finish sooner allowing the League to finish earlier. If time is picked up, then there will be more flexibility for breaks due to holidays etc.

Picking Teams
For Season 2 the following rules were used in determining which teams could be picked by each Coach.

Coaches pick teams in reverse order of the RABBL season 1 League Table.
Once 8 coaches have picked, all the new RABBL coaches pick followed by the remaining 8 RABBL coaches until the RABBL season 1 champ has the last pick. The following rules are used when picking:
 • A coach cannot pick a team in the same division as the last pick (unless this is required by other rules)
 • No division can fall more than 2 teams behind in its picking (ie if Evil has 2 teams picked and Good none, no more Evil teams can be picked until Good has a team)
 • Commish prerogative - I may stop certain picks if I want to or am just feeling difficult!

3 Coaches will be asked to submit their 3 choices to me (not to the RABBL Group) as follows:
 • First choice, race and division
 • Second Choice, race and division
 • Third Choice, race and division

The choices must include at least 2 divisions.

Once you have been allocated a team, send me your roster as follows (in order of preference):
 • HTML not using the Other SPP column with pictures
 • HTML not using the other SPP column no pictures
 • Text file or email

In subsequent seasons, Coaches will continue to manage their current roster or if they wish to will be able to pick a new roster (TR 100) from either the same race or from an available race in the same Conference. If more than One Coach wants to change his / her roster at the end of the season, then Division switching may be allowed provided both Coaches and the Commish agree to the change. If a team gets severely depleted during the season, the Commish may allow that team to be replaced by its Reserve (Minor League) team - ie a new TR 100 team of the same race (NB this will require commish approval). Any new Coaches coming into the League will be required to either use the team currently in the Conference or to pick a new team from the available races within the respective Conference.

PBEM Etiquette
An average game requires about two to four weeks to play. This means that as a minimum each player should on average complete at least 1 turn per day. I would prefer that each round lasts 3 weeks - I like to get games done! However, any games not finished after 4 weeks will be called so that the next round can start. Once each Round has finished (ie a maximum of 4 weeks - but could be quicker!), the next Round will start. At the start of each round, I will send out the initial game files in zipped format to each Coach. All completed games should be emailed to me in zipped format when finished. If there are any errors in the log, these should be explained in the accompanying email (eg player X was given a casualty by mistake - please reduce SPPs earned by 2).

If a player cannot take any turns for a day or so, please inform your opponent. A few days missed can easily be caught up. However, if your opponent doesn't send you his turn within 24 hours (not having told you this of course!) you should re-send your last turn to him. If after 48 hours you have still not heard, please contact the Commish.

No cheating is allowed. This may sound obvious however, Ronald's PBEM tool has many "cheat" detecting features. So do not use the rewind function to overwrite a failed action. This will get picked up. Any coach found to be cheating will be barred from this League and, in addition, details will be forwarded to Tom Anders' MBBL2 PBEM League. If you make a mistake in the log - explain the mistake and move the players appropriately so that your opponent can see what happened. If any coach is unsure, or feels that a turn has not been completed correctly, he/she should email me a copy of the zipped log file for my adjudication.

Software
The Software to use to play in this League is the most current version (currently v2.3). The League will use the same version used in the MBBL2. To download the software please follow the link.
